The Sony Ericsson Idou - will it be the phone of the year?

First and foremost on its list of awesome features is its key selling point: the Sony Ericsson Idou is the first phone announced for the UK to have a 12 megapixel camera. It also features technology culled from the Cyber-Shot range of phones, so, quite simply, the Sony Ericsson Idou is the single best camera phone in existence. However, it also has true smartphone credentials, as it features the new Symbian S60 Touch OS, giving it a sleek interface, bags of power, and the option to add on loads of third party software. It is, frankly, an astounding phone!
Nokia N97 - throwing QWERTY into the mix
However, it"s not the only upcoming phone to use Symbian S60 Touch, as the Nokia N97 is also built around that powerhouse operating system. The Nokia N97 features the same level of power and third party upgradeability as the Sony Ericsson Idou, but it also adds in a QWERTY keyboard, making text entry a lot easier. And whilst the Nokia N97 may only have a 5 megapixel camera, it backs it up with 32Gb of internal memory, making it a worthy competitor to the Idou.
Samsung Omnia HD - the first HD video phone
If the Nokia N97 is the real competitor to the Idou in terms of its raw processing power, the Samsung Omnia HD is its biggest camera rival. There"s a very good reason for that, because while the Samsung Omnia HD only has 8 megapixels, it"s the first phone to feature true HD video recording at 720p resolution. The Sony Ericsson Idou may have the edge when it comes to still images, but there"s no doubt that the Samsung Omnia HD absolutely slaughters it on video recording!
